I guess this is almost like an artist going full circle.
Back in 1992, techno virtuoso Moby sampled a cue from the score for weirdmeister David Lynch’s cult smash TV series “Twin Peaks” in a hit club track entitled “Go”.
Now Lynch himself has collaborated with Moby by directing an animated music video for “Shot in the Back of the Head,” a song that appears on the latter’s forthcoming album Wait for Me.
The video might not immediately strike you as “Lynchian,” but stick with it: it’s still pretty cool. I mean, not many people make love stories about a man and a disembodied head.
Check it out below.

Everybody wants to go Bollywood these days, and I guess the Italian Stallion is no exception, even if it’s just for a walk-on.
Kambakkht Ishq (which is also known as Incredible Love) is an action/comedy/romance/musical vehicle for Indian superstar Akshay Kumar, who can probably do the musclebound-funny-heartthrob character in his sleep at this point. Anyway, Kumar stars as a world-renowned stuntman who’s tops in Hollywood (hence all the guest appearances by celebs and quasi-stars like Stallone, Denise Richards and, allegedly, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carmen Electra). And yet, for all his glory and fortune, the guy just can’t find the right gal. Naturally, his first encounter with a supermodel (played by the always-enchanting Kareena Kapoor) is like oil and water, but…hey, I wouldn’t have called this movie a part-romance if sparks weren’t going to fly, right? The film is sure to be another one of those jokey “movies about movies” but you can always count on Bollywood to deliver, at the very least, some unbridled energy and glamor.
You can check out the trailer for Kambakkht Ishq, complete with Stallone appearance, over here.

Indian pop cinema has meshed with martial arts and kung-fu talents before (the 2006 superhero fantasy Krrish comes immediately to mind, for example), but Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is set to bring that cross-cultural movie mash-up even further with Chandni Chowk to China.
The action-comedy (and, yes, musical) is about a simple cook from Chandni Chowk whom some oppressed villagers believe to be a reincarnation of an ancient, revered warrior. What makes this project potentially exciting for die-hard fans is that it also stars the unmatched powerhouse Mithun Chakraborty and — yes! — Gordon Liu, the legendary martial arts maestro from chop-socky classics like The 36th Chamber and My Young Auntie, not to mention Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill.
You can visit the film’s official website, or watch the trailer. Chandni Chowk To China is slated for a January 16, 2009 release.

Hip-hop and Indian beats have been going hand-in-hand for a while now, but opening today is the Akshay Kumar-starring Bollywood action comedy Singh is Kinng, and the title track features none other than the man dubbed “America’s Most Loveable Pimp,” Snoop Dogg.
Bollywood movies have always featured music and dance sequences as a core element of their audience appeal, and the American hip-hop community has been taking notice. The New York Times has quoted Snoop Dogg as saying, “I’m coming to take over Bollywood. I really dig how much music is infused with the movies. Lots of hip-hop tracks sample Indian music, and a lot of their music sounds like it was influenced by hip-hop….This is just the beginning.” You can read the full article here.
Singh is Kinng opens today in New York at the ImaginAsian Theater and the AMC Theaters Empire 25 in Times Square. You can find showtimes at both venues here.
You can visit the film’s official website here, and the Akshay Kumar/Snoop Dogg “Singh is Kinng” music video is right below.
